Samuel Warner
(American 1872-1947)
Born in Scranton, New Jersey, Samuel Warner is primarily remembered as
a major designer for the Roycrofters, an Arts and Crafts community in
East Aurora, New York, at the turn of the twentieth century. With studies
at the National Academy of Design, he went to Roycroft, where he designed
title pages and book plates, and trained women to decorate pottery made
by the firm. He was a protege of Bill Spear of West Quincy, Massachusetts,
the caretaker of the Quincy Historical Society.
