Sebastian Cruset
(Spanish-American 1859-1943)
A native of Spain, Sebastian Cruset taught at the University of Barcelona before
emigrating to the states. Here he taught perspective drawing, was an illustrator,
and designed textiles. He managed to obtain a studio in the upper balcony of the
Queensboro Bridge in New York City, and from there painted panoramic views of the
city. He later moved to New Rochelle, New York, painting and exhibiting there until
his death in 1943.
